“A thoughtful, grounded perspective shaped by family traditions”
Tómas Atli is a co-founder of Private Iceland and brings a thoughtful, grounded perspective shaped by both formal education and a lifelong connection to Iceland’s landscapes and family traditions. Calm, down to earth, and deeply values-oriented, he plays a key role in shaping the philosophy and integrity behind the Private Iceland experience.
He holds a Master’s degree in Economic Engineering from the University of Reykjavík, providing a strong analytical foundation and a long-term, strategic approach to how the company is built and operated. His background contributes to the structure, sustainability, and attention to detail that define Private Iceland as a refined, well-considered operation.
Family oriented at his core, he has grown up traveling extensively throughout Iceland, from quiet days exploring the Highlands in the family Land Cruiser with his father, to adventurous hikes and backcountry journeys with his brothers. These shared experiences have shaped a deep appreciation for slow travel, meaningful connection, and the value of time spent together in nature.
Driven by strong personal convictions and a clear sense of values, he is committed to creating experiences that are honest, respectful, and rooted in authenticity. His love of travel, exploration, and shared discovery informs the spirit of Private Iceland. Where journeys are not rushed, relationships matter, and the experience is as important as the destination.
