The Iconic Golden Circle

Journey Through Iceland’s Must-See Natural Phenomena

A Golden Circle Tour is a must-do experience for anyone visiting Iceland.

One of the highlights of this essential tour is Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and a cherished location in the hearts of Icelanders. Steeped in history, it is home to the founding site of Althing in the year 930 AD, the first parliament in the world. Witness the awe-inspiring of the Atlantic Ridge, where the American and Eurasian tectonic plates are ever so slowly moving apart.

Gullfoss (“Golden Falls”), the stunning two-tiered waterfall of cascading blue glacial water in the summer and exquisite ice forms in the winter is a must-see. Its stunning beauty and enchanting magic are sure to take your breath away.

Within the Kerið volcanic canyon, a vivid turquoise lake creates a stunning vision surrounded by crimson lava rock and bright green vegetation.

The Geysir geothermal area is a colorful, wild world of gushing geysers and steam vents. It is a natural phenomenon that involves the interaction of water, hot springs, and magma. The resulting eruptions can be enormously powerful, sometimes reaching heights of up to 130 feet. It’s no wonder why this phenomenon’s impressive force was the inspiration for the English word "geyser."

Kerið crater is a volcanic crater lake located in the Grímsnes area in south Iceland. Kerið's caldera is one of the three most recognizable volcanic craters because at approximately 6,500 years old, it is only half the age of most of the surrounding volcanic features. The other two are Seyðishólar and Kerhóll.

Throughout the region, Iceland’s famously peaceful domestic animals can be seen grazing throughout the picturesque terrains. The friendly Icelandic horses are always happy to greet visitors, while lambs can be seen roaming free of enclosures or predators.

This tour allows you to truly experience the best of Iceland's natural beauty, with a full day of sight-seeing and relaxation, all a brief journey from Reykjavik.

Optional add-ons:

The greenhouse at Friðheima is a perfect place to take a moment to relax and eat during your busy day exploring the Golden Circle. They use geothermal energy to grow exquisite tomatoes in their sunny greenhouse. Their food is prepared with fresh-picked produce and served to you right amidst their indoor oasis. It all makes for an incredibly special culinary experience!

Find peace and luxury in the village of Flúðir, where you’ll find the Secret Lagoon. Indulge yourself with a session in their natural geothermal hot spring, continuously fed with fresh, pure bubbling water. Enjoy an authentic Viking experience, complete with therapeutic benefits.
